Freight Cost Determination is a feature of Carrier Cloud for SAP® that enables companies to calculate freight costs for shipping orders and make them available in SAP. This includes two key use cases:
Determining freight costs for shipping orders that have already been processed
Rate shopping for services, prices, and delivery times (for selected carriers)

With Carrier Cloud for SAP, you can calculate freight costs for shipping orders that have already been processed and reuse them in your SAP systems. The calculation is based on the shipping data provided, the selected carrier, and the service used.
The calculated values can then be used in SAP, for example for:
Cost control
Post-calculation
Internal settlement
Evaluations and analyses
Rate shopping in SAP: Viewing prices, services, and delivery times in advance
Rate shopping allows companies to check at an early, freely selectable stage of the process which shipping services are available from a selected carrier, what the rates are, and what delivery times to expect (this feature is currently available only for UPS, FedEx, and DHL Express).

Most companies work with multiple parcel services and forwarders, each with different pricing structures, surcharges, and service types. Freight rates change regularly and must be updated on an ongoing basis. If they are not kept up to date, this can be critical in SAP-related processes.

How are freight rates kept up to date in Carrier Cloud for SAP?
