How does multi-carrier shipping directly from SAP LGM work?

SAP Logistics Management assists companies in managing warehouse and transport processes. For operational shipment processing, the integration from AEB and consolut enhances the system by enabling direct communication with the transport service providers involved. This allows key shipping steps to be performed directly in SAP LGM:

1. Transfer delivery to SAP LGM

The shipping-relevant delivery data is made available in SAP Logistics Management. This includes, for example, information about the consignee, goods, handling units, and the intended shipping process.

2. Pack goods in the packing work center

Employees pick the goods in the SAP LGM packing work center. Here, the required handling units and details such as weight and dimensions are recorded.

3. Select carrier and service

Depending on the process, the carrier and shipping service may already be specified in the SAP document, determined by Carrier Cloud based on rules, or selected manually when entering the shipping data.

4. Transfer shipping data to AEB Carrier Cloud

SAP Logistics Management transfers the required shipment data to AEB Carrier Cloud for SAP via the integration. The AEB software formats the data according to the specifications of the selected parcel service or forwarder and transmits the shipping order to the carrier.

5. Create and print shipping labels

AEB Carrier Cloud validates the shipment and generates the carrier-specific shipping label. SAP Logistics Management receives the label in the response and prints it via Print Service.

6. Track shipping process

The technical steps involved in communication and label printing are documented in the SAP LGM message log. SAP and logistics managers can check the status and analyze potential errors in a targeted manner.

Users remain within their familiar SAP process. An additional shipping interface is not required. Another major advantage is that companies do not need a separate technical integration for every parcel service or forwarder.
