The Bundle Hamburg Event

The Bundle Hamburg Event

AEB staff and 60 customers recently boarded the barge New York for a celebration of the 829th birthday of the port of Hamburg, Germany’s largest seaport.  The event transforms the shores of the River Elbe by the port of this Hanseatic town into an enormous adventure playground for four days.In all, 136.5 million tons of cargo crossed the quay walls of the port last year. That included around 8.8 million standard containers. It gets about 9,000 ship calls per year and 2,300 freight trains per week. AEB’s guests saw traditional sailing ships and steamboats, gigantic cruise ships and container ships, the Hamburg Tug Ballet and an enormous display of fireworks, of course. In total 1.3 million visitors came to the event. AEB customers had the very best view on all of the attractions from riverside and their fill of delicious “Hamburger Fischbrötchen” (something like a fish burger) and currywurst. 😎🍷🍺 👍 👍

Manfred Oesterle
Manfred Oesterle
Manfred Oesterle exhibit at AEB

The works of the late Manfred Oesterle, the widely appreciated Stuttgart artist whose varied career spanned magazine work, sculpture and industrial design, will be on display in the atrium at AEB’s headquarters building until May 18. Oesterle, who died in 2010, did 223 cover images for the German weekly satirical magazine, Simplicissimus. The artist, who once painted himself as a cactus, also drew caricatures for another satire magazine, "Das Wespennest", and for the Swiss magazine "Nebelspalter." The son of a master painter, Oesterle did, among many types of works, wall and ceiling paintings, glass windows, tapestries and sculptures, reliefs and mosaics. From 1962 to 1980, he created advertising graphics, industrial design and two wall calendars for the former Daimler-Benz AG, now Daimler AG. 😎 😎 😎 😎 😎 😎

supply chain day
supply chain day

AEB joined the rest of our industry colleagues to celebrate supply chain day on April 19. It’s a day where companies in the industrial, trading and logistics sectors provide the public, among them lots of students, with an opportunity to look behind the scenes and experience a wide variety of logistics activities. We took part in a student event at DASA Dortmund. It was organized by the Bundesvereinigung Logistik e.V. (BVL), the BVL Regional Group and the Ruhr Regional Student Group in cooperation with the Fraunhofer IML. 😊👍👍

Volkswagen Group

Volkswagen Group

Did you know Volkswagen Group relies on standardized, end-to-end software from AEB – sending out over 1.6 million shipments each year from 36 sites? The result is efficiency across all modes of transport, all fully integrated into the complex IT environment. Powerful IT solutions are at the heart of virtually everything we depend on today. A reliable IT backbone is especially critical for large enterprises like the Volkswagen Group, which has nearly 600,000 employees worldwide and ships more than 10 million vehicles to its customers each year.👍👍👍

Marketing Team Day
Marketing Team Day

AEB's marketing team (that includes us who do The Bundle) decided recently to take a day for a retreat and to see who could cook. The answer was ...everybody. At a local cookery just outside Stuttgart, Dittmer's KochLounge, we produced an exquisite (according to us anyway) three-course offering. The dinner included potato-bacon soup, roast beef with red wine sauce and spaetzle (made - with a lot of coaching - by the American guy on the team). Desert was a kind of bread pudding soaked in a vanilla-amaretto cream. Plus there was a good assortment of wine and German beer. 😎🍷🍺 👍 👍

1,500 customers being protected by our platform
1,500 customers being protected by our platform

Did you know AEB has been doing compliance screening for 15 years. We’ve got more than 1,500 customers being protected by our platform and 350 of them are taking advantage of our SAP plug-inGiven the myriad of national and international compliance laws - that are continually being amended, changed or updated - it’s not easy to ensure you’re always playing by the rules but at AEB that’s what we do. Learn more about how we can protect you here. 😎💪💪💪

And speaking of cool we went to one very cool event. The LEO Awards from DVZ Magazine were presented recently in Hamburg. The LEOs are the black-tie affair for logistics and celebrate the achievements and innovations from our best and brightest.

AEB was there, of course, and sponsored the dance floor, which turned out to be a big hit at this bash. Check the video below. Look closely and you’ll see Markus Meissner, AEB Managing Director, very smoothly keep up with a professional dance partner. It’s in German, but if you want to see this year’s selection of winners you can check them out here#WorkHardPlayHard 🕺🕺🕺👍👍👍

PinkSeahorse initiative,
PinkSeahorse initiative,

Did you know AEB is on the lookout for tomorrow’s next great logistics idea? Our PinkSeahorse initiative, a business unit focused on developing new business models, technologies, and solutions, applies lean start-up methods to ideas for new logistics businesses and looks for the best approach to getting them up and running and succeeding. 😎 😎 😎 😎 😎 😎 Our philosophical bottom line: nothing in the shipping process should be any harder than an email. Here’s one example at myzollbox.com. Why do we do this? Steffen Frey, Head of Sales and Member of the Executive Board at AEB, gave the answer in a recent blog on our digital future. ‘True innovation needs space and focus,’’ he wrote. ‘’It’s not something you can successfully do on the sidelines of a normal business day.’’ #Innovation #SupplyChain #Awesome 😎👍

Supply chain visibility
Supply chain visibility

Loisach Marci was the hit of AEB’s recent Get Connected Festival. Marci played his alphorn in front of hundreds of festival-goers at AEB’s headquarters in Stuttgart.

Get Connected Festival.
Get Connected Festival.

He was joined by guitarist Jens-Peter Abele. The festival itself was a huge success. We had working groups on things like cloud computing and digital supply chain. And we held classes on how to make spicy chocolate, the dirt on dishwasher blockchain and the art of business poetry. If you missed our party don’t worry. We’re having two more this fall. #WorkHardPlayHard 😎🎸🎧

Our carrier integration platform
Our carrier integration platform

Our carrier integration platform now boasts more than 80 carriers. How cool is that? Plenty cool. That means we have more than 80 ways to provide shippers with a solution for easily finding and integrating the right carriers into their business plans. That also means more than 80 fast, cost-effective, and maintenance-free connections to carriers. The number 80. #SupplyChain #Logistics #Awesome See you at 100. 😉

Salesforce app
Salesforce app

Did you know that AEB has an app in the Salesforce app store? It screens business contacts against international sanctions lists. It can check out a potential suppliers, business partners and customers at first contact and then tell you of possible issues long before any business takes place. That means you avoid a fine or worse (worse being a prison sentence) and we can save you from the damage to your reputation that negative media reports can bring. In short, if you want to know the good guys from the bad guys … there’s an app for that. 😎👍
